The much-publicized and much-hyped White Man March in Liverpool ended in humiliation and pain for National Action and their Nazi mates as they failed to even get out of Lime Street station. The day started with UAF and the unions marching well away from the fascists for a rally with arch dickhead Joe Anderson. Anderson made overtures about how he should be granted the power to ban marches that intend to “threaten, intimidate and hurt the community”, a ridiculous and dangerous proposition given Anderson’s record of rubber-stamping Tory cuts and sending Merseyside Police to try and stamp out anyone who opposes this. Of course, UAF are claiming that it was them bravely marching away from the fascists to another part of town that won the day.
But if the antifascists who stayed at Lime Street had followed UAF’s “lead”, the fascists would have marched out of the station and held their rally unopposed. At the end of the day, Joe Anderson was forced to concede the effectiveness of the antifascist response at Lime Street. Credit to a lot of the people on this march though, who came back to Lime Street to face down the fascists.
At the same time, several hundred antifascists had gathered at the bombed-out church and other locations and made their way to Lime Street station to get the real work of stopping the fascists done. Most of the action took place in and around the station, with antifascists jumping on any fascist as soon as it appeared. The Head of Steam pub, which is attached to Lime Street station and has played host to fascists in the past, became an early focus of antifascist attention. The pub was quickly shut down for the day with some of the fascists trapped inside.

Early in proceedings, NF duffer Ade Brookes tried to make his way out of Lime Street. He didn’t get far before he was leathered by antifascists, losing his flag in the process. He was chased out of the station, across the road and up the steps at St. George’s Hall, taking a kicking all the way. Total humiliation and not a small amount of pain for him and his mates.

The National Front’s Ade Brookes took a proper fucking kicking
Soon after, this clown was caught trying to sneak out of the station. He was quickly surrounded by antifascists and a phalanx of police had to come to his rescue before he was torn to pieces. Police were particularly hands-on in protecting this piece of shit. He took a few digs and a few litres of milk before the police, under pressure from a huge crowd of antifascists, bundled him into a van for his own safety.

This knob must have stunk all the way back to London

Look at the fucking cut of him
Following this, police made an effort to move what remained of National Action out of Lime Street station. Antifascists made this as difficult as possible. The boneheads were escorted under a hail of abuse, fists and missiles, down an alleyway round the back of the station and out of sight, not to be seen again.

Word now started to reach antifascists that the rest of the Nazis had been put on a train out of the city with the police unable to guarantee their safety if they were allowed to stay. After making sure the station had been cleaned out, the now well over 1000-strong antifascist group began a celebratory march through the city centre, taking in Queen Square, Dale Street, Water Street and the Pier Head. After a celebration in a party atmosphere at the waterfront, the crowd began to disperse.

The work wasn’t over for local antifascists though, with groups staying on in the city centre to mop up any groups of fascist stragglers that might be left over. But after their biggest humiliation in recent years, the fascists were clearly keeping a low profile and licking their wounds if any had hung around at all.
And what would a blog about Liverpool antifascism be without a mention for the North-West Infidels, who took another pasting from 161 Crew and had their flag nicked. Liam Pinkham should be used to this sort of stuff by now. He’s had a few hidings round here before. It’s a wonder he bothers coming through the tunnel anymore.

The recriminations had begun among the fascists almost immediately, with National Action coming under fire from other ineffectual groups of shitheels for the poor turnout and their organization on the day. But it wouldn’t have mattered if twice the number of fascists had turned out, they’d still have been humiliated and sent packing such were the numbers among their opposition.
In 1937 Oswald Mosley was hospitalized and sent packing from Liverpool. It’s good to know the local attitude towards the far-right hasn’t changed much since then.
They did not pass.
